The huge sports and cycle retail chain is opening up in May

Decathlon comes to Oxford with 2,000 sq m store

Opening to the public on Thursday May 1st, Decathlon Oxford will occupy 2,000 square metres and will be positioned next to Homebase on Seacourt Tower Retail Park, West Way, Oxford, OX2 0JJ.

The store will incoporate a ‘dedicated showroom’ to cycling, with experts on hand to provide advice to shoppers.

To mark its arrival in Oxford, Decathlon will be encouraging families, sports clubs, schools and other community groups to take part in a number of free sporting activities over the next few months, including sporting discovery days.

Last year saw Decathlon open a new UK distribution centre (in an ex-Tesco warehouse) and host its first UK press launch for the B’Twin bike brand.

Decathlon UK MD Steve Dykes said: "The new store will be located on the Seacourt Tower Retail Park, in the heart of the city. We’re keen to make a real contribution to the community, offering new opportunities for residents, students, families, schools and workers to get involved in sport. In addition to selling global brands such as Nike, Adidas and Speedo, we will also stock our own innovative passion brands products, giving people more choice than ever before."

According to The Mirror, the retailer is recruiting 30 people.
