Sports retail giant Decathlon has released more details about its brand new store opening in Wednesbury, Birmingham, later this month.
The new shop will employ around 100 people and cover a 50,000 square foot area. Decathlon is investing £15 million in the outlet, with the store stocking over 170,000 items for over 70 sports – including cycling.
The sports chain will relocate its current Merry Hill operation to the new premises. The 50 existing employees will be offered the chance to relocate.
"I am very excited about the new store and can’t wait for it to open," enthused Anthony Kirkwood, manager of the new store.
"The contractors are currently finishing off the building work, and also installing outside areas for football, badminton, basketball and table tennis. It really will be a store with a difference and offer something for everyone."
Decathlon is based in Lille, France and has over 500 stores across the world.
