DiamondBack has released a new e-mountain bike called the Lux.
Featuring a Bosch CX power system, the Lux has a relaxed frame geometry with a 69-degree head angle, which the brand states helps to make the handling smooth and assertive. The frame is made from double-butted 6061 aluminium with a recessed 400wh battery.
The Bosch system comes tuned to eMTB riding with four modes of assistance – with Eco providing 50 per cent assistance and Turbo providing a 300 per cent boost to the user’s pedalling. The Purion display unit provides information on the battery and motor, and the battery range gives riders between 55km on Turbo and 145km on Eco mode.
The Lux uses a Shimano Deore 1×10-speed clutch assisted rear derailleur. The Suntour XCR LO-R AIR forks have 100mm of travel to take the shocks from the trail. The forks have a wide stanchion to accommodate the 27.5” wheels rolling on 2.2” wide Maxxis Ikon tyres. The hydraulic disc brakes have been upgraded from the Heist’s 160mm rotors to 180mm diameter to bring greater stopping power to the heavier electric powered Lux.
Commenting on the bike, Jason Boness said: “We set out to make an e-MTB at an accessible price point but without compromising on quality and handling. The Lux is a sporty, entry-level eMTB that handles beautifully. This bike can get riders out on to trails that they wouldn’t otherwise get to, made possible by the bike configuration and the e-boost of the Bosch motor. It’s a great cross-country hardtail eMTB, that’s truly at home on the trail and with it you can go further, in less time having more fun.”
