Dick Pashley, former chairman and managing director of bicycle manufacturer W.R.Pashley of Stratford upon Avon has died at the age of 86.

Pashley was born in Hall Green, Birmingham in 1927. He served in the Royal Navy during and after the Second World War before joining his family business in 1948.

W.R.Pashley Ltd was founded by William Rathbone ‘Rath’ Pashley, father of Dick Pashley. The business was originally situated in Birmingham. It was moved to Masons Road in Stratford upon Avon in the 1960s when Dick Pashley succeeded his father as managing director of the business.

Soon after Pashley’s retirement in the 1990s, the business was sold to new owner-managers who have continued to manufacture and sell a wide range of leisure and utility cycles including classic cycles, tricycle rickshaws, and unicycles.

In the 1980s Pashley was president of the Bicycle Association of Great Britainand served on the Council for many years. He was also secretary and then president of the Centenary Club.

His funeral takes place on Tuesday 25th June at noon at Oakley Wood near Wellesbourne, Warwickshire.
