New bar clamp diameter comes into play to cater for bigger bars and older riders

Eclat introduces new clamp diameter to cope with big BMX bar trend

WeMakeThings’ BMX label Eclat has introduced a new 25.4mm bar clamp area on its new Strangler bars in response to the demand for ever-taller and wider BMX bars.

The four piece construction Strangler bar and stem combination is bulked up in the area that’s become prone to cracking as bars (and sometimes riders) have grown in size. Stock of the Strangler bar – available in 9.1 and 9.6" heights – is due in the UK with distributor CSG UK late in summer 2016.

Coming to market next month from Eclat is the Cortex Freecoaster, based around a new proprietary IOS mechanism, which replaces the ball and spring system found in KHE style freecoasters. Having tested the hub extensively for the problems that have plagued freecoasters in the past, the driver uses x2 Japanese cartridge bearings with a polymer bushing behind them for added support. An integrated stop ring further prevents sideways movement that can lead to the bearing being crushed.

RHD and LHD units are to be available, as well as complete build wheels laced to the new Trippin XL or Bondi V2 rims.
