Enve composites has announced an exclusive deal with the "world’s first molecular nanotechnology company" Zyvex.
This partnership provides the wheelmaker access to the latest materials comprised of nano-enhanced carbon fiber, which have been used in Enve’s DH rims and wheelsets.
Zyvex has now applied its ‘Arovex’ nano-enhanced carbon fiber technology to the downhill rims, now raced to over 50 podium places around the world. After two years of development, ENVE sponsored rider Greg Minnaar of the Santa Cruz Syndicate rode the new DH rim to victory at the 2012 World Cup Opener in Saint Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
Arovex is a carbon nanotube and graphene engineered composite material that uses the proprietary Kentera technology to create chemical bonds on carbon nanotubes. It provides an advantage in toughness without compromising strength and protects from fracture damage. Enve has an exclusive license for this advanced technology for cycling applications. The tech claims to boost durability, strength and stiffness significantly when compared to traditional alloy products on the market.
In 2011, Syndicate racer Steve Peat raced on the same pair of Enve DH wheels throughout the entire 2011 season.
