The Scottish distributor will be bringing a new brand signing to Core this year – POC. A key product from the brand is the Trabec helmet, designed to offer the highest possible degree of protection without compromising functionality or performance. Retailing at £140, the helmet has an Aramid filament reinforced EPS core that is tough and resilient, while the outer PC shell is optimised with, crucially, no seams at the most exposed areas. An aerodynamic channel system and 16 vent holes keep riders aerated and the Trabec fits more like a skateboard helmet than a traditional helmet – on top rather than around the head. It comes in an array of bright POC colours.

Ibis’ anticipated Mojo SL-R will make its UK debut at Core Bike. Described as phenomenally light, the Mojo SL-R is a stiff trail bike made with special moulding technology. The tapered steerer, BB92 Bottom Bracket and a 142 Maxle rear axle, combined with the new moulding, helped build a stiffer, stronger and lighter bike. All in, it weighs 2250g for a large frame with a Kashima RP23 shock. Retail price for the frame will be £2,199.99.

There will also be offerings from Crank Brothers and its completely redesigned for 2012 Mallet 3. The all-new stylish pedal features a two-piece aluminium and polycarbonate body and press fit internals from the Eggbeater and Candy family, retailing for £99.99.

There will also be tasters of all the new Clif Shot Electrolyte Gels at Core Bike, plus the new Tutto multi-evolver.

Cordee
Cordee is excited to be back at Core Bike for the third year. Its cycling catalogue has over 500 books and maps covering, mountain biking, road racing, triathlon, training, racing history, special interest and the ever popular narrative. Cordee sources and hand-picks titles from publishers big and small from all over the world to provide the best of what is available.

They tell us: “For those addicted to speed and skinny tyres, this year has been a bumper one with titles like Racing through the Dark by David Millar, Italian Racing Bicycles and Mountain High to name but a few. Italian Racing Bicycles is particularly worthy of note as for the first time it brings together all the Italian brands together in one place.

“For the mud lovers, this year’s best seller has been the Good Mountain Bike Guide. Covering the entire country, split by region, this book covers 500 areas across England and Wales. All the usual information with regard to facilities nearby and on route is provided along with 1:50 000 Ordnance Survey mapping.

“Cordee is not only known for our vast array of books, but also maps. In conjunction with Ordnance survey Cordee is offering an extra an extra five per cent off map orders placed at the show. Also available are numerous maps from Sustrans documenting the long distance cycle routes around the UK.

“If you are an existing customer, or fancy a chat about the possibility of adding books to your current product range, please come and see Richard and Jim in room S10.”

Chicken Cyclekit
Buyers of Cinelli, Tifosi, Dedacciai and TIME bikes now have a Chicken Cyclekit catalogue – distributed in Cycling Plus via newsstands – exclusively dedicated to bikes and frames.

Cinelli offers new colours and design changes, while the Bootleg brand comprises four bikes well under £1,000. Dealerships are available with preferential terms and extended dating, says Chicken. There’s a new Dedacciai Strada Assoluto RC non-integrated bike and there are Di2 options on some road models too. Dealerships here are available with five-year warranty agreements and extended dating.

The Corsa full carbon Tifosi bike is now the flagship model and there are five new-look 2012 models, four of which retail sub-£1000. Even at those prices the bikes are tailored to dealer requirements and Tifosi bikes come with five-year warranty and extended dating.

The Campagnolo range includes new black/red carbon 11x components, an upgraded entry-level Veloce group, Cyclo Cross and TT specific parts including canti- and bar-end levers. There’s a new high-profile Bullet range of clincher and tubular models and an 80mm profile, available from stock in the spring. Dedacciai Elementi hardware includes the Bandito integral bar and new seat posts, Cinelli, SKS and KMC will be showcased too.

The ‘lightest spoke ever’ – the Sapim CX-Super – will feature, with Klaus Greuter on the stand to explain its benefits. Selle Italia’s new Monolink Friction Free single rail saddles and seat posts become available as part a test programme via Core. Vittoria has widened its famous range of tubulars and reflective Randonneur tyres and introduced the Geax off-road brand via Chicken Cyclekit. Nalini and Moa clothing, worn by the likes of Mark Cavendish will present the range of Pro Tour replicas, with customised versions on offer. Find out more about in the 2012 Cyclekit catalogues, or watch out for BikeBiz January edition.

Buff
Buffera will be giving dealers an easy introduction to Buff Apparel at Core, with a starter pack containing men’s and women’s t-shirts, socks and gloves – plus an additional six Original Buff, the Original Multifunctional Headwear, free-of-charge. Also included will be a selection of point-of-sale to enhance in-store presentation.

In terms of new product, Buff will have 2012 spring/summer Headwear at Core. In the High UV Protection collection is the Cap Buff, a reversible and ultra-light cap made with a double layer of highly breathable Coolmax Extreme fabric, the double layer offering 98 per cent protection from UV rays. The fabric has elasticity, so the cap fits the head of most adults, and is available in children’s and baby sizes too (RRP £23.00). The Headband Buff line-up includes 11 new High UV Protection designs, 22 new prints and patters in the existing tubular Buff, as well as the introduction of the first High UV Protection Buff collection for babies up to three years old.

The Visor Buff is back in the High UV Protection collection too, with an improved neoprene peak, similar to the peak of a baseball cap. It hits the £18.00 retail price point.

Citrus-Lime
The specialists in providing independent retailers with modern and efficient ecommerce, epos and stock-control solutions will be at Core, aiming to give dealers a competitive advantage and the infrastructure on which to build successful retail businesses.

Citrus-Lime has EPOS solutions that are flexible, feature-rich and can scale from single store/single till operation to multiple sites with many lanes. Citrus-Lime’s ecommerce system, Citrus-Store, links fully with the Microsoft Epos based in-store till and integrated stock control systems. The firm provides a full range of hardware, support, training and modular software solutions to enable retailers to streamline their multi-channel business with a versatile and integrated solution.

CL currently works with around 60 cycle and 20 outdoor Retailers: ranging from internationally recognised brands such as Chain Reaction and the Giant UK store franchise, to small and mid-size IBDs and chains across the UK.

They say: “Our sales team look forward to meeting you at Core Bike 2012 and will be available for demonstrations of our full ‘Clicks and Mortar’ solution in Room S7.” To get in touch with CL ahead of Core, phone 0845 603 9254 or visit: www.citrus-retail.com

Extra
Extra will be moving into the Aston’s room for the first time at Core and some of the highlights you can expect to see include the latest from the award-winning Topeak. Easton’s alloy and carbon component range, meanwhile, has been added to with a range of MTB wheels, including the new Carbon EC90XC. With this wheel, Easton wanted to match the strength, stiffness and performance of the aluminium EA90 XC wheel in a lighter package.

Fizik’s new Kurve saddles adapts to every turn, and are available in three shapes following Fizik’s Spine concept principles.
Building on the success of its Double Barrel rear shock, Cane Creek will launch the Double Barrel Air shock in 2012.

Designed as the ultimate upgrade for all mountain and long travel XC bikes, it offers performance advantage with all the adjustability of the bigger coil shock in a lighter, sleeker version.

Elsewhere, John Boultbee Brooks brand has introduced the Criterion Jacket. Bearing his name and carrying the Brooks heritage, the Criterion Jacket was designed in London by bespoke tailor Timothy Everest. It’s designed to challenge the convention that shower proof cycling apparel must disregard aesthetic considerations. It is made of Ventile, a waterproof and windproof woven textile, combined with an inner lining of Fox Brothers Tweed and all handmade in London. There’ll be plenty extra from, erm, Extra too, so head to the Aston’s room at Whittlebury for more.
