Performance cycle wear brand has roots in the golf industry and is now coming to the UK

Cycling is the new golf? Clothing brand Danny Shane should know

Austin, Texas-based Danny Shane is looking to grow its UK presence following early demand from British consumers.

Exhibiting at last month’s London Bike Show, Danny Shane grew out of a golf apparel company. Four years ago the firm decided that rather than have a divided focus between golf and cycling it would split, leading to the foundation of Danny Shane, BikeBiz was told at the show.

Led by a team of passionate cyclists, the firm specialises in performance cut apparel using the likes of rapidly moisture wicking bamboo fabrics which are odour neutralising, comfortable and eco-friendly.

Despite its relative youth, Danny Shane is big in the US, BikeBiz was told, with distribution into Japan, Italy, Germany and France and Australia, the latter from last year. Greater UK demand than anticipated at this stage saw the firm take the opportunity to showcase its lines at the ExCeL show and look for a more permanent means of bringing the brand to UK consumers – currently it ships direct to consumer.

The US firm is big on plaid, perhaps unsurprisingly for a company with a golf heritage, but its range also includes retro style jerseys with a line-up encompassing jerseys, polo shirts, cycle caps and shorts.
