Five things we saw at the BikeBiz Awards 2017

The tenth annual BikeBiz Awards will be taking place on February 23rd, 2018 at ExCeL London, and in anticipation of the biggest industry awards around, we’re taking a look back over the highlight of last year.

1. Ned Boulting
Attendees of the 2016 BikeBiz Awards were treated to an evening compered by award winning journalist and face of ITVs Tour de France coverage Ned Boulting. As well as revealing many of the night’s biggest awards, Boulting captivated the crowd with stories from his long and eventful history in cycling.

2. The entertainment
No celebration is complete without some in-house entertainment. On top of having legend Ned Boulting in the room and one of the biggest bicycle shows in the country on our doorstep, we also heard some great music from a live band and a DJ in-house. The 2017 awards entertainment is yet-to-be announced, but you can bet that the BikeBiz events team will have some corkers in store.

To have the cycling industry so positively recognise and celebrate our advocacy work is fantastic. We’re proud to have accepted this award!

3. The cow
It was a slightly traumatising year for Cycling UK’s cow mascot Cycling Moo Kay – real name, we didn’t make that up. After being stolen from its home outside the National Trust building in Surrey and then miraculously found a whole five months later, the now iconic fibreglass animal made his way to the BikeBiz Awards to support Cycling UK. It worked too, as the company won the Cycling Advocacy award.

4. The connections
Where better to celebrate the gathering of the cycling industry than the BikeBiz Awards? Last year we took over the grand Aloft venue at the ExCel, complete with drinks reception and plenty of time to hobnob with the biggest players in cycling. The event presented the perfect chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones under one roof. This year we’re going on better and taking over The Bridge, so make sure you get your ticket and don’t miss out on a night to remember.

5. The winners
We can’t talk about the BikeBiz Awards without talking about all of the amazing brands and companies that reiceved awards over the course of the evening. From Cycling UK to Moore Large and Velorution, the night was packed with great acceptance speeches and grand reveals. Seventeen companies walked away with top awards in categories such as Best Independent Bike Dealer and Best Sales Team. Roll on 2018!

Co-located with the London Bike Show at The Bridge, the BikeBiz Awards are firmly established as the cycling industry’s foremost opportunity to reward and recognise innovation and commitment to the business of bikes. This year, there are a few key changes to the awards process, as well as five brand-new awards.
