Quintana Roo bags gold at Eurobike

Firm's CD01 triathlon frame wins top Design Award
Publish date:

Quintana Roo's CD01 triathlon frame fought of competition from over 400 entries from 25 countries to snap up the iF Design Eurobike Award.

One of only eight companies to win a Gold Award, Quintana Roo's CD01 reduces drag created by the drivetrain. The frameset, which is set to retail at £2,199, will also be included in two complete bikes for 2010 - the CD01 Dura Ace and the CD01 Ultegra bike. Available from January, the Dura Ace will retail at £4,599 and the Ultegra at £3,199.

American Bicycle Group CEO Peter Hurley said: "Quintana Roo is the only brand in the world that exclusively manufactures dedicated triathlon bikes. This award recognises the design, development, and rigorous testing and product evaluation procedure that went into developing the CD01 frame.”

The CD01 frame's non-drive side of the downtube is offset by 18mm towards the drive train, moving airflow from the 'dirty' side of the bike to the 'clean'/non-drive side. According to the firm, by routing air to the non-drive side the drivetrain effectively becomes invisible to the wind.
