Selle Royal launches ‘perfect fit’ Scienta saddle

Selle Royal has teamed up with Europe’s largest sports university to develop Scientia – a new range of ergonomic saddles.

With the help of the Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln (DSHS), nine models have been developed, with ergonomically designed profiles to "match every shape, size and style of cyclist", according to the brand, designed for optimum rider comfort and performance.

Selle Royal has applied the DSHS’s recommendations to better understand the fundamental design principles underlying the saddle. The DSHS’s research collected and evaluated data points from hundreds of volunteers for Selle Royal, with quantitative analysis methods developed to determine how factors such as gender, saddle shape, and ischial distance interact to affect ride comfort.

Selle Royal then used the DSHS’s fundamental principles of saddle design to create nine ergonomic saddles to precisely and comprehensively fit virtually any rider.

The Scientia will be officially unveiled at Eurobike, where Selle Royal will elaborate on the science behind it (Stand A5-301).
