$10 000 is the starting bid for a private MTB ride with Lance Armstrong. The charity auction is on eBay and is being organised by Wired magazine to raise funds for the Starbright Foundation, a charity that helps kids with serious illnesses. As well as the ride with Lance (get to Los Angeles on Friday 14th November), the auction is chocka with standard Wired-type tech products, and exclusives such as a one-carat vivid yellow-orange diamond, a 2004 Jaguar XJ-R, and Uma Thurman's Dior Jacket.

Fancy a private ride with Lance? Got $10k to spare?

Did we say private ride? The small print says there could be up to 25 other riders, but you would at least get a signed jersey from Armstrong.

All bidding is taking place online at eBay until end of play on November 5th. US residents only.
