'Gap filling' premium apparel range has some quirky POS marketing options for dealers

Fashion designer unveils Spokesman cycle clothing range

Nathan Gibbons has launched brand new clothing range Spokesman.

Gibbons has been in the clothing business for 20 years, working on brands like Police and Stone Island. Now turning to the cycle clothing market, Gibbons told BikeBiz that he saw a gap in the market for a cycle brand made by a clothing manufacturer, at reasonable prices.

Using the same technical fabrics as some of the familiar high end cycle clothing brands, Spokesman is looking to work with the nation’s independent bicycle dealers.

Gibbons said: "Spokesman fills a gap in the premium cycle clothing market providing stylish product cutting edge technical fabrics and distinctive marketing at 40 per cent less than the competition."

The range includes the ultra light Ghost Jersey, using Coldblack technology that protects from the sun’s rays (UPV 50+) and is nine per cent cooler than non treated black fabrics, we’re told. Other lines include the Gills Jacket, with gills that expand as the rider gets warmer, but then contract when cold (while retaining windproof qualities), as well as other jackets.

Gibbons is also hoping to bring some quirky POS options and ‘retail theatre’ for bike dealers to galvanise interest in-stores.
