The Bicycle Association’s first velodrome day for industry members was held yesterday at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester. The Bicycle Association sponsors British Cycling’s Go-Ride training programme for children.
A two-hour taster session on the track was followed by a tour of the velodrome and an autograph signing session with Team GB riders Elinor Barker and Jody Cundy. The riders can be seen in the pic above with the Bicycle Association president Paul Stewart of Moore Large and the Bicycle Association’s executive director Phillip Darnton.
Stewart was one of the riders on the taster session: he rode a carbon fibre Moda track bike.
Barker currently rides on the track for Great Britain and on the road for Wiggle-Honda. She is a two time and reigning world champion in women’s team pursuit. Jody Cundy is a Team GB track rider. He represented Great Britain at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, where he broke the world record on the way to winning the gold in the 1km time trial.
