FLAB plans limited edition beer for Tour de Yorkshire

In celebration of the decision to make Ilkley the host town for this year’s Tour de Yorkshire, Wharfdale brewery has created a ‘King o’t Mountains’ blonde ale in association with Ikley-based cycle brand Fat Lad at the Back (FLAB).

The ale will be available at its flagship pub The Flying Duck in Ilkley, as well as a number of other pubs throughout the Wharf Valley.

Wharfdale Brewery marketing manager Jonathan Shepherd said: “We’re thrilled that Ilkley will once again be put on the map as we welcome the Tour de Yorkshire. We’re expecting an influx of cycling fans and spectators and wanted to mark the occasion with a special beer with our friends Fat Lad at the Back.”

FLAB founder Richard Bye added: “Ilkley has always been a cycle town, but the Tour creates a huge buzz and we really wanted to do something to capture the excitement of the event. I can’t wait to have a pint of King o’t mountains and watch some of the best cyclists in the world in my own back yard!”

The limited edition beverage will be on sale from the end of May.
