Alpine Bikes to introduce 'Top Scottish Rider' to the weekend's event

Fort William gears up for UCI MTB World Cup 2012

More than 250 of the world’s top MTB riders from 25 countries are making their way to this weekend’s UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, hosted at Fort William.

This year’s event sees the debut of a new trophy, from Alpine Bikes, for the Top Scottish Rider, male or female, of the weekend.

The award won’t just be judged on results, but also on which person has shown the greatest improvement, bravery and commitment to the event. The judging panel will be Tiso Group CEO Chris Tiso, Nevis Range CEO Marian Austin and Alpine Bikes director Bryan Shedden. The trophy itself has been specially commissioned by official World Cup trophy maker Kenny ‘the Sprocket Man’ Wilson. It will be presented immediately before the main trophy presentation, by Chris Tiso.

Alpine Bikes director Bryan Shedden commented: “I cannot wait to see who wins this at the weekend. Alpine Bikes is proud to be able to recognise the best Scottish rider with this annual award.”

Alpine Bikes has been retail sponsor for the Fort William Mountain Bike World Cup for the last eight years.
