Garmin adds ‘Birdseye select’ custom map download service

Garmin has added a tailored map download service to its website, allowing its cycle computer users to download 600 square kilometers Ordinance Survey mapping of their choice.`

Dubbed Birdseye Select, the 1:25,000 scale downloads are compatible with Garmin’s Dakota, Oregon or GPSMAP 62handhelds, as well as the Edge 800. The mapping provides familiar symbols, contours, elevations, summits, paths and more.

As well as OS raster mapping for Great Britain, Ordnance Survey maps detailing Ireland are also available at a scale of 1:50k.

Further to this, popular MTB destinations, such as Germany, Austria, the Eastern Alps (including part of Italy), Switzerland and France are downloadable.

The download service is found at Garmin.com and at Garmin’s ‘Basecamp’.
