Retailer's customer initiative is up for an award this weekend

Go Outdoors’ smartphone loyalty scheme wins plaudits

An integrated smartphone-based retailer loyalty scheme from GoOutdoors has been nominated for a BT Retail Week Tech Award.

The recently introduced project is reportedly the first smartphone-integrated scheme of its type to be launched nationally in the UK, hoping to tap into the swiftly rising numbers of smartphone owners.

Customers can use their phone to earn and redeem awards and offers in store, while the scheme simultaneously delivers more customer engagement to the outdoors retailer.

The Go Outdoors Discount Card scheme is operated with mobile phone tech from Mobilize, imaging scanners from Motorola and terminal and EPOS systems from Prologic. The system means there is no need for plastic card or paper vouchers.

“We are making shopping smarter and easier for the consumer,” says Claes Kockum, commercial director of Mobilize Systems. “Users can receive and redeem offers through the phone, changing the way we shop. Go Outdoors is the first nationwide retailer to realise the potential of fully mobile loyalty to the UK high street.”

The scheme will be up for a ‘Customer Technology Initiative’ award at the BT Retail Week Tech Awards, to be hosted on Saturday June 16th at Lancaster Terrace, London.
