Other members of the Trek-Volkswagen Racing Team will also be at the UCI MTB World Cup at the end of the month, boosting the event's salivation factor.

Green, Sydor and Bootes to race at Fort William

Canadian Roland Green is the two-time and reigning XC World Champion. Fellow Canadian Alison Sydor is the current UCI number two and three-time XC World Champion. Downhiller Wade Bootes from Australia is the 2000 Dual World Champion, Four-X expert and BMX World Champion.

The cross-country riders use Trek Fuel 100 OCLVs. Bootes rides similar Fuel frames but equipped with longer travel Rock Shox Psylo forks.

The team is transported around in Volkswagen Euro-Vans, Jettas, Touaregs and Beetles.

The World Cup event will experience an annular eclipse of the sun on Saturday 31st May.

The Scottish Highlands will be one of the best viewing points for the passing of the moon in front of the sun, leaving a complete ring of light around the moon.

Alpine Bikes, the five-store IBD chain, is sponsoring the World Cup Chaser, a Sunday June 1st XC race for mere mortals.
