"The road bikes have never looked this good" - Neil Merry, Hot Wheels

GT steps up research and development for 2010 Line

Hot Wheels is touting the new GT line as more than capable of placing the brand as the "world leader in design and technology."

The increased access to state of the art R and D facilities has born its fruit in the shape of the 2010 GT road bike line.

GT’s all new aluminium frames mirror the tube shapes of carbon fibre made frames and are both aesthetically easy on the eye and structurally superior to anything GT has offered in road bikes previously.

The 2010 range starts at £599.99 with the GTR 4.0, (pictured) featuring Kenesis butted tubing, carbon fork, Shimano Sora componentry and Ritchey finishing kit. The line features nine models topping out at £3699.99 for the GTR Carbon Pro. Cross bikes also return to the line up.

"GT bicycles integration to the Cycling Sports Group based in Bethel Connecticut is already paying dividends," according to Neil Merry, partner at Hot Wheels.

"The road bikes have never looked this good and initial reaction has taken us a bit by surprise. The increasing use of cross bikes for commuting will make the GT Type CX (£799.99 RRP) an important model in our 2010 line up. We feel GT is going from strength to strength and it’s great to be working with a brand that is again going to be a world leader in design and technology."

GT recently hired UK rider Marc Beaumont and Aussie Mick Hannah to compete on the carbon Fury DH bike with Hannah making the podium in four out of the first five world cup downhill events this season.

Mark Peterman, long time director of GT product development, has been promoted to the newly created position of global brand manager and will be responsible for all aspects of development of GT Bicycles. Mark will be available to discuss the future development of the GT brand with interested retailers at Eurobike.
