It’s long been known that hot weather spikes bike interest, but July second, the day following this year’s hottest, saw a heading on 2,000% spike in Brompton searches on Gumtree.
The popular shopping site saw 1,300 searches for Brompton bikes on Thursday 2 July, compared with a modest 65 the day before – a 1,914% jump to be precise.
With Bromptons high on London’s hotlist for stolen bike favourites, buyers are of course advised to be cautious when purchasing on the free to list site.
