Scandinavian manufacturer celebrates half a century by bringing ‘Hoody’ to Taipei

Herrmans notches up 50 years

Finnish manufacturer Herrmans is commemorating its first 50 years in the biking industry this year.

The firm, which produces bicycle grips, lights, chain guards, rim tapes and reflectors, was founded by Bernhard Herrmans who launched it during his weekends back in 1959. Herrmans now employs 150 staff with a turnover of 33 million Euros.

The manufacturer is celebrating the milestone by launching a new range of lights. Herrmans will take its first Halogen front light – called Hoody – to the forthcoming Taipei show. The Hoody will meet front reflector requirements in all European countries, according to the firm, with a minimum output of 10 LUX.

Hermanns will also bring new grips to Taipei this month, including a 90mm version of the Jet to accompany the 110mm and 140mm versions.

“We want to develop innovative products which enhance the comfort and safety of biking,” said Reijo Tiuraniemi, Herrmans president.

“Saying that doesn’t mean that we would forget the products, which we have for bicycle entry market, where prices have to be competitive and still meet all the regulations,” Tiuraniemi added.
