The family partnership business was presented with the international award at the Taipei show last week. Russell Merry said Hot Wheels would grow in 2004-5 but that all suppliers faced an interesting year thanks to raw material price hikes and Shimano shortages

Hot Wheels awarded Mongoose ‘Distributor of the Year’ by Pacific Cycle

“The strength of the Mongoose product line in the 2004 model year has enabled us to take significant steps forward in the sales of both BMX and adult bikes," said Russell Merry.

"Dealers will see increased marketing support for our adult line of bikes during the summer in all the major consumer mags."

An extension is currently being built on the new Hot Wheels warehouse.

“2005 model year will present many challenges with possible delays due to the widely reported shortages of steel and Shimano," said Merry.

"Frankly it’s very hard to see how this will all turn out. We will try to keep our dealers informed and work with our suppliers to try to minimise delays. Pacific Cycle has invested heavily in new design software and in more engineers for Mongoose. We will see the benefit of this in an enhanced product offering over the coming years."
