In line with Shimano’s global standards for Service Centres, we continually strive to serve our customers with the best technical expertise possible and deliver this in a helpful and friendly manner. It is essential that you have good oral and written communication skills and an appreciation for what it takes to delivery outstanding customer service.

Brompton folding bikes are in important asset to our business and as such, we require experience of working on these bikes. Ideally, you will have been trained by Brompton on the service and renewal of the major hub gear and folding systems. We have a reputation for an incredibly high level of competence and expertise in servicing Bromptons and our customers have come to appreciate and expect the almost obsessive attention to detail that these bicycles demand. Training will be available on all aspects of the brand through the Brompton Academy e-learning platform and in store.

Responsibilities

Along side our existing mechanic, you will be responsible for carrying out the majority of the servicing and repair work that comes to the shop. Our operations are centred around the customer experience, from the very first interaction with us to collection and beyond. You will be at the front line delivering this experience and therefore care must be taken to ensure that the workshop is kept organised and tidy, and that the customers’ bikes are cared for while in our possession. • Keeping customers updated throughout the time their bike is in our care

It goes without staying that you will need a minimum level of IT skills, sufficient to be able to carry out your duties in the workshop, particularly for communication with our customers while their bike is in our care. Our customers are at the heart of our operation and keeping them informed and in control throughout the service and repair process is of up most importance. Our operations are fully digital and cloud based and as such you will be required to familiarise yourself with and use:

  • ePOS for sales and inventory management
  • workorder management system
  • SMS communications system
  • appointment booking system

In addition to these systems you will also need competence to use supplier b2b accounts to research and order products, as well as other online resources such as si.shimano.com and Campagnolo and SRAM tech websites. As ebikes are a growing market accross the industry, you will have (or be ready to acquire) knowledge and experience of the most common ebike systems and their software, such as Shimano STePs, Bosch and Brompton.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Cytech Level 2 or equivalent; Cytech Level 3 highly desirable
  • Minimum 2 years of proven IBD experience as a mechanic (references essential and will be checked)
  • Brompton trained, ideally 2 years of experience working in a Brompton dealer.

Additional Requirements

We will also need the successful candidate to occasionally operate the till and be able to work in the shop as required so good customer service skills are essential. We need a friendly and presentable person with patience and a positive attitude.

Contract & Trial Period

The successful candidate will be offered a minimum probationary period of 3 months, extendable for a further 3 months with agreement on both sides. Once this period is satisfactorily completed, a full-time and continuous employment contract will be issued with full employment benefits. We are committed to looking after our staff and hard work, a positive ‘get stuff done’ attitude and demonstrable commitment to our mission will be rewarded.
