Award-winning charity Life Cycle UK is looking for an excellent bike mechanic with a positive attitude and a passion for cycling to help grow our Bristol bicycle recycling and bike servicing operations. You will help more people, from all walks of life, to access a working bicycle. This role is based at our workshop in the car park of Horfield Prison. You will work on a mixture of servicing bikes for paying customers, selling bikes to ‘walk in’ customers and to buyers on Ebay, and refurbishing donated bikes for sale or use in our charitable programmes. Under the guidance of the Volunteer Coordinator you will work with and support volunteers to refurbish unwanted bikes donated by the public. This may include men Released on Temporary License from Bristol prison, as well as men on release: “Thank you for everything you have taught me. It has changed my life. I’m already discovering how fortunate I am to be trained by the Life Cycle team” – former prisoner You will be an excellent bicycle mechanic, with experience of working on a wide range of bikes. You will have good time management skills, excellent customer service skills and be able to deal professionally with people from all backgrounds. You will work in, and help maintain, a well-equipped workshop, be able to cope with a busy working environment and get jobs done on time to a high standard. The successful candidate will have a proactive personality and always be looking for ways to develop our charitable projects, alongside colleagues and the Project Manager. Working hours: Full time (5 days / 37.5 hours per week). Working days: by negotiation – but Saturdays required. Annual Leave: 31 days paid leave in each holiday year. Statutory holidays such as bank holidays are included within this entitlement.
