Job Description

Cycle Systems is currently looking for a pro-active and self-starting individual to join our company as Lead Academy Instructor.

This is the perfect opportunity if you are a keen cyclist with a passion for cycle tech, who would thrive in a responsible role that involves taking pride in both day to day interaction with students, as well as the prep and behind the scenes organisation.

Personal Attributes

You need to be a friendly and clear communicator, be exceptionally well organised and reliable, and able to adhere to systems already in place. An entertaining streak is a plus for curating a high calibre student experience. However, good boundaries with people, so that strict time management and delivery criteria can be adhered to, are essential too.

Due to the nature of the role, and the level of responsibility within the company, a high degree of emotional maturity and capacity to understand the directives of senior management is expected.

Qualification and Experience

At least a decade of professional bicycle workshop experience is preferred for the role, coupled with the capacity to deliver high standards in a live teaching environment. (This is a student facing role and delivery is mostly offline.)

Ideally, you will also be qualified to a Level 3 in Bicycle Maintenance and Repair, and to a Level 3 in Teaching and Assessing. However, experience also counts and teaching/assessment qualifications can be undertaken once in the position. Likewise, a qualified teacher with a passion for bicycle repair would be considered, as cycle tech industry qualifications can also be undertaken as a part of your training with us.

Main Purpose

To take lead responsibility for the delivery and assessment of all Cycle Systems Academy courses and frameworks on a day to day basis as and when scheduled.

Manage all academy systems when at work – including student administration, assessment, stock control, tool sales, equipment maintenance, audit, and basic housekeeping duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing management and delivery of all CSA courses on a day to day basis
  • Teaching of core curriculum in a timely fashion, ensuring all outcomes are met by students
  • Assessing qualifications and impeccably maintaining awarding body paperwork
  • Managing student experiences whilst on site
  • Repair teaching and demo stock when needed
  • Managing stock control and ordering through relevant systems
  • Adhering to all online admin, assessment and other management systems
  • Overseeing the order, cleaning and tidying of space
