Strype Street Cycles “SSC” – is an exciting new road race and triathlon focussed boutique store in the heart of Spitalfields. 

The core management team have been working together, servicing the local cycle community for nearly 7 years and wanted to offer a more exciting cycle retail experience. Carrying some of the most prestigious brands on the market (Argon18, BMC, Cannondale, Cervelo, Colnago, Look, Orbea, Stelbel, Stinner) we focus on offering custom and semi-custom bikes that are unique, fit for purpose and built with a high attention to detail. 

Everything we do begins with bike fitting and we have one of the most comprehensive fit studios in the country, encompassing motion capture and pedal stroke analysis along with saddle pressure mapping and CDA analysis. 

The Role and You 

Our workshop is getting busier by the day and we are looking for a full time mechanic to join the team. You’ll be carrying out general service work on both road and time trial bikes, building custom bikes and making post bikefit component changes and PDI’s. 

We are interested in applications from either experienced mechanics – used to working on high end machinery, or novice mechanics that we can train over the coming months, gradually introducing you to more complex work as your skills develop to our required standard. 

To work in our workshop you’ll need to be methodical, demonstrate high attention to detail, solve problems in a calm thoughtful manner and maintain a spotless work area. You also need to be able to (and enjoy) interacting with customers so you can communicate any problems with their bicycles and explain how they have been resolved when picking up. 

As a group, we have all worked together for many years, we are a friendly and welcoming bunch that all share a passion for all things two wheels of one sort or another. The successful applicant will be able to slot into this group without causing any ripples. 

Experience and attributes we’re looking for include: 

  • 1+ year’s experience servicing modern style road and triathlon bikes (desirable) 
  • Good knowledge of the market 
  • Ideally a regular road cyclist or triathlete, with a passion for bikes 
  • Computer literate including experience with retail POS systems 
  • Great people person with a can-do attitude and friendly, approachable demeanor 

The position is for a mechanic on a full time and permanent basis and provides:
