Product Manager – (Accell Innovation and Technology – Raleigh) 

Reporting to the Head of Product Management – (Accell Innovation and Technology – Raleigh)

Established in Nottingham in 1887 Raleigh is one of the world’s oldest and best-known bicycle brands.  Raleigh is part of the Accell Group, a European based company, who own a collection of bicycle and accessory brands throughout Europe.  

Today Raleigh supplies the UK market with the major industry-leading bicycle brands of Raleigh, Haibike and Lapierre, as well as an exciting and extensive portfolio of accessories such as Saris, SRAM, Moon and Schwalbe.

Job Purpose

The Product Manager will be fully responsible for the daily management of bicycle product development for the brand Raleigh. Taking key insights and wish-lists from the Collection and Brand team, as well as your own expert knowledge of the bicycle industry to create ranges of bicycles that support the growth of the business. 

The Product Manager reports to the Head of Product Management for Raleigh. This is a team who are part of the Accell Group Innovation and Technology Department and collaborates extremely closely with Raleigh’s regional team.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Product management for the Raleigh bicycle platforms agreed with the Head of Product Management
  • BOM (Bill of Material) creation and maintenance using the Accell unified bill of material template
  • Ensure supplier pricing in the BOMs are up to date
  • Manage the handover of BOMs to the relevant supplier
  • Creation of standardised region specifications for MSU (Marketing and Sales unit) use 
  • Manage all daily tasks with the suppliers and be the key contact for all product related topics
  • Cross check of the BOMs and calculations in the assembler’s ERP system
  • Manage your projects in line with the local heartbeat calendar to ensure product development milestones are delivered on time
  • Project support, development, and coordination with business partners
  • Work alongside Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and Compliance Managers to create new products
  • Work alongside Product Managers from other Accell brands to create new shared platforms
  • Maintenance of the collection in close relationship with Collection Management
  • Support the Collection Manager identifying gaps in the market
  • Together with the Collection Manager and Head of Product Management build the future model year portfolios in line with the strategic brand direction
  • Managing the product range throughout the lifecycle
  • Work closely with the Brand, Marketing, Collection team to coordinate the CTG (Colour, Trim and Graphics) process and timelines
  • Manage the handover of artwork to the relevant supplier
  • Coordination of all product-relevant processes (NPI, Portfolio master)
  • Supplier selection, defining quantities and pricing in close partnership with Accell procurement
  • Continuous BOM reviewing for complexity reduction opportunity within the portfolio
  • Close communication with the MSU to ensure all product-relevant questions are answered efficiently and accurately
  • Build and review prototypes when necessary
  • Working with the Compliance Manager to ensure all product meets Accell standards
  • Sign off samples along with the Quality Manager
  • Travel overseas to attend group meetings/workshops, visit suppliers, and check samples
  • Keep track of market developments, trends, and innovation
  • Field test samples and prototypes when necessary
  • Any other reasonable duties within the scope of the role

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • You are a motivated and energetic bicycle lover who is eager to build strong products together with a highly motivated team
  • Good knowledge of the bike industry and market
  • Background in product development and previous project management experience desirable 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with different functions across the business and are a network builder
  • Knowledge of manufacture and production processes as well as material properties desirable
  • Ability to see the bigger vision and align daily activities in accordance with the vision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organisational skills including attention to detail and multitasking 
  • Experienced user of SharePoint and MS Office toolset (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)
  • Willingness to travel overseas (can be with short notice)
