TECHNICAL SPECIALIST, PRESTON HQ\r\nLocation:\u00a0Preston, UK\r\n\r\nSalary:\u00a0Competitive, dependent upon experience\r\n\r\nHours:\u00a05 days per week\r\n\r\nAs part of Ribble\u2019s continued development and growth, it has become necessary to strengthen our Product team with a\u00a0Product Technical Specialist\u00a0role.\r\n\r\nAs the Product Technical Specialist for Bikes, you will report into the Head of Product and be directly responsible for the specification and presentation of Bikes. Working closely with the Head of Product, Product Manager and Supply Manager you will be accountable for agreeing the componentry specification for Bikes, liaising with Suppliers to agree to price and range, and developing a forecast with the Supply Manager. You will also play a major role in assisting the Bike Product Specialist in the creation and set up of Bikes on our website, including the management of BikeBuilder.\r\n\r\nBeing a Bike product expert, you will also be required to feed into our strategy for Bike trading and design; as well as product development and competitor analysis. A detailed understanding of product part numbers and specifications is crucial, a keen eye for detail and a passion for the product is essential.\r\n\r\nThe role will require a close working relationship with the Operations and workshop teams \u2013 specifically the mechanics and the Bike Production Manager. It will also be important to work cross-functionally with the Digital Team to ensure our products are presented in a best-in-class way, and that development of functionality is practical and manageable.\r\n\r\nThe role offers the successful candidate an opportunity to shape this crucial area of the Ribble business for the future.\r\n\r\nKey responsibilities of this role will include:\r\n\r\n \tDefining and agreeing on Bike specs with the Head of Product.\r\n \tIdentifying part codes and preparing detailed spec sheets for the Supply Manager\r\n \tMaintaining the BikeBuilder platform, including product listings and pricing.\r\n \tBuilding relationships with our key suppliers (especially the OEM teams).\r\n \tSupporting the workshop team and Supply Manager with identifying product replacements, where necessary.\r\n \tWorking with the Bike Production Manager and Returns team to identify problematic products\/specs and develop a solution.\r\n \tMonitoring of competitor pricing and activity on Bikes to support the Product Manager and Head of Trading for Bikes with the promotional plan.\r\n \tWorking closely with the Digital Team to ensure Bikes are presented appropriately on the site.\r\n\r\nWho are we looking for?\r\n\r\nWe are looking for someone who is tenacious and passionate about bikes; with keen attention to detail and a focus on the customer experience. Having worked in the bike industry, you will be a real Bike expert with an enthusiasm for Cycling and Bikes, with an interest in technical detail and specification.\r\n\r\nYou will be proficient with IT, and able to learn new systems quickly, and flexible in your approach to work as it is likely that no two days will be the same in this role! The role will be a key cross-functional position, so strong communication and interpersonal skills are vital.\r\n\r\nExperience and competency in the following is essential;\r\n\r\n \tTechnical bike specification including knowledge of part codes\r\n \tExperience of building Bikes in a mechanic capacity would be a distinct advantage.\r\n \tThis role will revolve around the customer, so experience of customer service in retail is essential.\r\n \tStrong communication skills to ensure cross-functional teams are bought into and engaged in the delivery of your vision.\r\n \tSupplier management.\r\n \tAdvanced Excel skills.\r\n\r\nExperience and competency in the following are desirable:\r\n\r\n \tE-Commerce retail trading.\r\n \tFar East sourcing.\r\n \tGoogle Analytics.\r\n \tWorking with the Magento website platform.\r\n\r\nAbout Ribble\r\n\r\nRibble Cycles is an established global online retailer of cycles, cycle parts and accessories.
