Criterium Cycles is hiring
Criterium Cycles has been consistently voted one of the best bike shops in Scotland. As a result of a period of rapid expansion, we are looking for a new Trainee Cycle Mechanic to join our outstanding and growing team.
Founded in 2013, Criterium Cycles has recently moved into fabulous new premises (4 times the size of our previous store) and like many quality bike shops, we are witnessing unprecedented demand.
We are looking for someone who has a passion for cycling as well as a hunger to learn a new skill, with the aim of becoming a professional and experienced cycle mechanic. This role is likely to appeal most to someone starting out on their cycle mechanic career. The successful candidate will have great interpersonal skills, a clear desire to learn a new skill and apply themselves to a role where they will learn and develop new skills in a ‘hands on’ way and to very high standards.
Your principal duties will be to:
- Build cycles for both display and sales, fit alternative parts as required and maintain any demo bikes as directed.
- Be able to communicate clearly and professionally in response to technical questions from customers either in person or over the phone. We know it will take a little time to become proficient in this.
- Provide input to the rest of the Criterium Cycles team with regard to feedback from customers as well as any requirements for spare parts, consumables and other stock; and
- Become an integral part of the Criterium Cycles team providing a satisfying and memorable experience to all customers.
As a highly respected cycle retailer in Scotland, outstanding customer service and excellence in delivery is very important to us. A committed and professional attitude as well as a willingness to learn is therefore more important than prior experience in cycle mechanics. We will teach you the required technical skills as you grow in confidence and knowledge.
At Criterium Cycles, we reject any form of discrimination whether it be based on gender, disability, race or any of the characteristics set out in the Equality Act. What matters to us is that you are passionate about cycling, committed to excellence and hungry to learn. If that sounds like you, we look forward to hearing from you.
Because of the nature of the machinery you will be trained to operate candidates must, however, be at least 18 years of age.
Salary: £ Competitive, dependent on experience
