2-5 days a week (Part time or Full time contracts available)
Location: Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking, Surrey RH6 5AA
Reporting to: CEO & COO
Salary / Day Rate: Negotiable, based on experience

Involve in the smooth running of our busy cycle hub in the heart of the Surrey Hills, the Workshop Manager / Head Mechanic will be a key role within the Just Pedal business. The role will provide the opportunity to build skills and be a major part of a UK project breaking new ground within the cycling industry. The successful candidate(s) will be a proven proactive self-starter with exceptional customer service skills. They will need to work well on a team, be able think critically, and thrive in a diverse environment.


  • Maintain a productive and smoothly running hub during all open hours
  • Management and maintenance of Canyon bike hire fleet
  • Management of busy bicycle repair workshop
  • Maintain and improve open hub operations including flow, scheduling, and ensuring optimal service and ease of hub use for patrons and clientele
  • Maintain inventory of new/used equipment and manage restocking from appropriate sources
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and functional hub
  • Ensure quality and safety of all new and used products leaving the hub
  • Recruitment, interviewing, hiring, orienting, and training new staff in conjunction with COO
  • Promotion and sale of all Just Pedal’s services to hub visitors
  • Maintain positive connections, and collaborative relationships with suppliers, local bike shops and the greater cycling community
  • Ensure that all phone calls, requests, and questions are addressed appropriately and in a timely fashion
  • Seek out technologies/trends in the industry to maintain/enhance quality of work and products
  • Some evening and weekend shifts required
  • Occasional event work and travel opportunities

Relevant Experience / Qualifications

  • Excellent mechanical skills required (preferred minimum three years hands-on, professional shop experience working on a wide variety of bicycles). Qualification (i.e. Cytech) preferable
  • Experience in a client-facing customer service role
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google, and point of sale programs
  • Demonstrated ability to think dynamically and good problem-solving skills
  • Experience with managing and hiring a successful team
  • Experience handling demanding clientele in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong educational and teaching skills
  • Social media, sales and marketing experience
