Barnsley Cycle HUB are looking for a qualified, experienced cycle mechanic to deliver workshop services, customer repairs and e-bike fleet maintenance. Barnsley Cycle HUB is a local council-funded cycle workshop delivering a range of active travel services aimed at encouraging more people to take up cycling.
Role-specific tasks include:
• Supporting the HUB Manager with the day-to-day running of the workshop and sales area
• Booking-in and carrying out customer repairs
• Maintaining a small fleet of electric bikes for a community bike loan scheme and offering support to the Fleet Manager.
• Refurbishing donated bicycles for resale
• Providing delivery support for off-site Dr. Bike Clinics and Business Engagement Events.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced bike mechanic with good technical knowledge and experience of working on a wide variety of bikes with a fast turnaround.
You will have the good communication skills required to work on a community bike project which is primarily aimed at increasing levels of commuter cycling in Barnsley, often addressing the concerns of people who are new to cycling.
You will have excellent organisational, time-keeping and team-working skills. You will also have a friendly, approachable, positive attitude and feel comfortable addressing members of the public with a desire to pass on the skills you have to others.
The post will be based at our Barnsley town centre HUB which is open five days a week, Monday to Friday. You may occasionally be required to work weekends, at off-site at outdoor events across South Yorkshire and also at our Sheffield workshop.
As the main aim of the HUB is to increase the number of people travelling actively in Barnsley, the succesful applicant will be required to travel sustainably to and from work, either by foot, by cycle or by public transport, unless unforeseen circumstances prevent you from doing so.
Please send your CV with a covering letter to Angela@recyclebikes.co.uk. Closing date for applications is Monday, November 26. Further information about the HUB can be found at www.barnsleycyclehub.com
