Revamped range targets urban and commuter cyclists

Kryptonite reveals new Messenger lock collection

Kryptonite has revamped its Messenger collection following its launch last year.

Aimed at offering unobtrusive and reliable anti-theft devices, the collection is naturally suited to urban cycling and commuting.

The Messenger Mini+ has an integrated secondary shackle. A secondary loop is passed through the front or rear wheel, then the main shackle is slid through the eyeholes. The secondary shackle adds weight and folds over on the main body for compact storage.

The Messenger Mini is based on the Evolution Mini-5 U-Lock, with a wider and longer shackle to increase the number of places it is possible to lock a bike, but still while fitting in a back pocket. A new DuCore cylinder – featuring anti-rotation discs – has been introduced to increase durability and lessen the chance of keys sticking and breaking in the cylinder.

The Messenger Chain & Moly Padlock is for ‘tricky to secure your bike’ scenarios. The Moly padlock has a ‘retained’ shackle so the chain can be carried around thewaist with the padlock in the ‘unlocked’ position.

The Security WheelNutz replaces comventional axle locknuts (not compatible with quick-release systems) with a nut that features a toothed interchange to the washer. It is tightened down as normal and a simple gravity pin slides into place. The only way to release the pin and loosen the wheel is to flip the bike upside down, which is tricky/impossible with the bike locked to a rack or post.

The Messenger collection is in stock and now available via Madison. Dealers should talk to their account manager for more details.
