Festival at Staffordshire's Chillington Hall will feature a sportive ride and birthday ice-creams

To celebrate its 70th anniversary, London's Condor Cycles is to stage a two-day summer cycling festival at a stately home in Staffordshire. The festival will include a sportive ride on Sunday 8th July starting and ending at Staffordshire's Chillington Hall.

OTE Nutrition will be on hand at the feed stations to keep riders fuelled, and Karma Cola will rehydrate riders at a post-ride bar, whilst Yorkshire butcher, Allums, will serve up their award-winning pies.

Festival riders will be joined by pro athletes from JLT Condor, who will also take part in the ride. The event village will host a maintenance zone, rider workshops, gelato stop, espresso bar, and food trucks, as well as a vintage Condor exhibition and demo bike zone.

“We wanted to celebrate Condor’s birthday doing the thing that unites us all: cycling”, said Condor MD Grant Young, son of founder, Monty Young.

“The festival is a celebration of British cycling and the sport. I encourage owners with vintage Condors to dust off their bikes because I’d love to see our older creations. Each bike has its own story to tell.”

"But," he stressed, "you don’t need to be a Condor rider to take part."

Tickets for the festival – which starts on Saturday 7th July – are £50 for adults and includes entry to one of the sportive rides, limited-edition 70th anniversary gifts, post-ride food, ice cream, and drinks. Big screens will show the Tour de France.

Monty Young opened London's Condor Cycles at 90 Gray’s Inn Road in 1948. He's still a guiding force in the business. Grant Young began working in the family firm in 1972.

Condor has always been both a shop and a bespoke bicycle supplier. Condor-branded bicycles have been ridden to world championship gold medals, ridden in the Tour de France, and have been the choice of many figures in the public limelight, including Tom Simpson, Sir Bradley Wiggins and Sir Mick Jagger.

Condor is the track- and road-bike supplier to London’s Olympic velodrome in the Lee Valley VeloPark and also supports Herne Hill velodrome with a custom fleet of hire bikes. The brand is also available overseas and in ten UK bike shops.
