Dynamic duo will promote registering new bikes supplied through the scheme

Cyclescheme and BikeRegister team up to fight bike crime

UK national cycle database BikeRegister is partnering with cycle to work provider Cyclescheme from October to promote and facilitate the registration of bikes supplied via the scheme to the national register, which is used by UK Police Forces.

The idea is to make bike registration seamless to Cyclescheme members.

Cyclescheme members will benefit from:
* Lifetime registration on the BikeRegister database
* A registration Log Book to be used as proof of possession/ownership
* Secure online access to their account
* Free change of ownership

They will also be given the opportunity to purchase a QR Identification Kit for added security at 25% off the usual price. The kit contains a highly durable tamper resistant QR Code label that offers a unique BikeRegister ID.

Over 250,000 bikes have been registered on the secure BikeRegister database and around 1,000 searches to check for stolen bikes take place every week. Any registered cycle is traceable by police if it is stolen and recovered.

Cyclescheme has processed over 480,000 bikes since incorporation in 2005. The schemes are part of the Government’s Green Transport Plan and there are over 2,000 Cyclescheme retailers nationwide.

BikeRegister MD James Brown said: "We are extremely excited by the opportunities this new partnership with Cyclescheme presents and hope that this will be the first step in a successful, long term relationship across several sectors.”

Cyclescheme product manager Jeremy Persad added: “Cyclescheme is thrilled to be working in partnership with BikeRegister. The combination of convenient, online, and market-leading bicycle protection is a fitting addition to our package of free of charge services to our client employers and scheme participants alike.

“‘Peace of mind’ is core to the enhancement of the cycle commuting experience and the security and protection BikeRegister’s products and services deliver can only help propagate positive behavioural change.”
