Halfords' Q3 financials have revealed an upturn in the Cycling part of its business.

The period, covering the 15 weeks to January 15th 2016, saw bike sales rise a modest 1.1 per cent, like-for-like. That follows a disappointing Q2, covering the summer 2015, which was "below expectations" where cycling fell 11 per cent.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, looking at the longer term picture there was a drop - with Cycling down 1.4 per cent over the 41 weeks to January 15th.

Outside of Cycling, the retailer's car maintenance were impacted thanks to the warm start to winter. Overall, however, total like-for-like revenue for Halfords Group was up 0.3 per cent (1.2 per cent over 41 weeks).

The firm added that it had its record day online over the Black Friday weekend. and highest ever day for total sales on December 23rd.
