The fifth edition of The Annual, compiled by cycling publisher Rouleur will go on sale this Friday.

Having travelled the globe to source content, writers and photographers have sought out the best stories from the past year's races, offering the reader tales from events such as the Copenhagen World Championships and Tour de France, as well as insightful comment from the chief sport writer at the guardian, who recounts Mark Cavendish delivering sterling results throughout.

The Annual features Tour de France stories with contrasting styles. Taz Darling tackles the rugged rolling roads of Brittany with her usual brilliance, while Yazuka Wada – whose superb Vuelta story graced the Volume 4 annual – takes to the mountains. In contrast, author and TV commentator Ned Boulting celebrates the best Tour for years and Richard Moore years for the simple life of a roadside spectator.

Other highlights include Rouleur Editor Guy Andrews' peculiar fascination for mundane press releases from professional cycling teams. In an entertaining article, Guy studies them closely.

Other guest writers include Geoff Waugh, Herbie Skyes, Taylor Phinney and Olaf Unverzart, among others.

The hardback annual will retail for £37 and spans 320 pages.
