UK transport minister visits Seville to see how it was transformed into Spain's cycling city - BikeBiz
Jesse Norman meets with mayor of Seville as well as cycle advocates.

Seville in Spain is famous among cycle advocates for the "overnight" installation of a network of cycleways, and thereby transforming into a cycling city, with an elevenfold increase in the numbers of people getting on bikes. It's therefore significant that UK transport minister Jesse Norman is currently in the city and has met with political leaders as well as some of the city's cycle advocates.

Between 2006 and 2011 Seville created a 120km network of cycleways in a "city without a tradition for cycling," says an academic study. This led to a sizable uptick in the numbers of people cycling.

"Now in fabulous Seville on a visit to see how the city was transformed - in four years! - into a major cycling and walking city," tweeted Norman.

Norman also met with a number of Seville's leading cycle advocates.
