"Inspired by Record Store Day, this is the chance for local bike shops to show why [customers] should shop there, this is going to be a big day and we're hoping many people in the cycling industry will take part." And with this call-to-arms on Facebook Daniel Jones is hoping his idea for a Local Bike Shop Day will take root.
"For the public, this is your day to show your support for the backbone of the cycling world, call in, go for a demo ride, buy a bargain, see a talk," suggests Jones, who via Random Adventure gives bike-based pep talks.
"Every shop will have something unique on, we'll be compiling a list of those taking part and what's going on as it comes in," he promises.
Local Bike Shop Day joins others created in America and Canada. The first US Bike Shop Day was staged on 9th December, organised by Brooklyn's 718 Cyclery bike shop. Canada's equivalent – Bike Store Day – was announced in February and will be held on 24th March.
