The London Cycling Campaign (LCC) has said it ‘urgently’ needs £15,000 to support its campaigning, to "tackle years of inaction and make London’s most dangerous junctions safe for cycling now".
It said: “Unfortunately, many junctions long acknowledged by TfL as dangerous still await the action promised to make them safer. More still have no plans for improvement in place at all.
“In some cases action is being blocked by anti-cycling councils. In other cases the delays stem from TfL itself. And to cap it all, where improvements have been made they are all too often inadequate.
“This means public money is being spent without achieving the cycling safety standards needed to deliver London’s ‘Vision Zero’ action plan, to prevent all deaths and serious injuries on our roads by 2041.”
The Mayor of London and TfL’s Vision Zero commitment is to eliminate all death and serious injury from London’s roads by 2041.
The Action Plan includes encouraging safe speeds, designing safe streets, reducing the risk posed by ‘dangerous’ vehicles and encouraging safe behaviour.
