£41,000 of new bikes bought as cycling holiday demand surges

Mark Warner invests in tour business as cycle holidays boom

Active tourism operator Mark Warner has told BikeBiz that it has invested £41,000 into new bikes for its business following a surge in demand for two-wheel holiday tours.

Citing the Olympics as a key driver for the newly inspired cycle tourists, Rich Abbot, sports manager at the Mark Warner Levante resort, said: "As we all know, following the success of Team Sky and the British Olympic team, the cycling industry in the UK is booming. Just in Levante, we’re seeing between 60-70 people each week taking part in our guided bike tours during peak season."

The money spent has gone toward a fleet of GT Avalanche 4.0 bikes, which are available for hire free of charge at the operator’s resorts, along with a helmet. Daily guided tours for ‘easy going’, intermediate and advanced cyclists are provided.

This year, on 29th June, the Tour de France passes by Mark Warner’s San Lucianu resort in Corsica.

Three resorts hold the cycle tours; San Lucianu, Corsica, Levante in Greece and Perpedera in Sardinia.
