12.8 per cent drop for component manufacturer in 2009

Sales slip for Mavic

Mavic has seen sales fall in the first six months of 2009, according to a report on BikeEurope.

Sales fell 12.8 per cent in the first half of 2009 to €51.8 million, compared with the first six months of 2008 – which saw sales at €59.4 million.

Amer Sports, owner of the Mavic brand, said that it expects the market to continue to be challenging for the rest of 2009.

Earlier this year Mavic voluntarily recalled its R-SYS front wheels. Mavic MD Bernard Millaud said of the recall: “The capacity constraints in high-end wheels continued to negatively impact both the sales and margins. The R-SYS recall is now almost complete. The customer feedback on the execution of the recall has been positive.”
