Sales of Singletrack magazine have risen by 18 per cent year on year, according to WH Smiths' sales data. That means that Britain's fastest growing mountain bike magazine is made in Todmorden.

This growth has been achieved at a time when Smiths' cycling and mountain biking category has seen an overall decline of 3.4 per cent. The magazines strong sales build on impressive growth figures for 2007.

All those extra sales have also lifted Singletrack 117 places in WH Smith's National Magazine Ranking - a 12 per cent increase, more than any other title in its category.

According to the mag's publisher, Mark Alker there are two reasons for the growth:

"It's all about the community that Singletrack has built up around the magazine and the website and the sense of trust that community has for the Singletrack editorial team.

"Our eight years of publishing history has been all about fostering an intensely loyal community of mountain bikers. What has particularly helped us to do that is Singletrack magazine and www.singletrackworld.com's unique and open format," added Alker.
