The North Face is teaming up with US retail chain Galyan's to introduce the range, featuring MTBs and a cruiser. There are no plans for a UK launch but the news that TNF is allowing its brand-name to appear on bikes at all is an interesting development...

Major-league outdoor brand launches bike range

Galyans is a 33-store speciality outdoor retailer in the US. It is licensing The North Face name.

"Partnering with The North Face on this co-branded bicycle series makes good sense," said Galyan’s chairman and CEO Robert B. Mang.

"We know how well The North Face brand is received by our customer and we are excited about marrying the brand with a great product."

Jim Gerson, The North Face vice president, said:

"We are very excited about this new product. It’s an obvious fit for our outdoor enthusiast consumers and the activities they participate in."

This is the first time The North Face logos have been used on bicycles. The co-branded product line will include The North Face branded mountain bikes and A5 Series branded cruisers and will be sold in all the bicycle sections in Galyan’s stores.

What next? Rab recumbents? Patagonia road bikes? Sprayway skateboards?
