EUROBIKE 2011: Iconic car brand reveals new urban bicycle for the female market

Mini Cooper bike division launches its first bike for women

Cooper Bikes has launched the new Cooper Oporto ladies bicycle.

The bicycle division of the Cooper Car Company said the Oporto is elegant, simple and high quality, featuring a sophisticated riding position for comfort and a smooth ride.

The frame is built from Reynolds lugged double butted tubing, with a Brooks leather saddle and handle bar grips, and Sturmey Archer five-speed internal hub gears. The bike will retail in the UK at £949 inc VAT and is finished in spring white with Oporto decals.

“We are very proud of our new Oporto bike,” enthused Cooper Bikes MD Mike Cooper. “We wanted the perfect ladies bicycles and we think we have done it.”

Since the brand launched in 2009, Cooper Bikes has clocked up over 3,000 bicycles, with distribution into the UK, USA, Germany, China, Australia, Japan and South Korea.

The brand is stocked by Evans Cycles and selected independent bike stores in the UK.

If you’re at Eurobike you can see the Oporto in person at FG-A5/2. If not, here’s a bigger pic of the new ride.
