Momentum Electric initiates Kickstarter campaign for VIT-S

Momentum Electric has launched its VIT-S electric bike today on Kickstarter.

Marketed as the “most powerful legal electric bike” the VIT-S is Momentum Electric’s first mid-drive motor e-bike, and the world’s first bike using the new powerful Nidec motor, which is part of a joint venture between Nidec and Itochu to break into the electric bike motor OEM market. It is reportedly the most powerful electric motor meeting EU and US legal requirements.

The VIT-S has a maximum power output of 700W, 95Nm of torque, and meets EU 250W-rated power/25km/h speed limit and US 350W rated power/20mph legal requirements. It can do up to a range of 160 km on a single charge.

Founded in 2012, Momentum Electric aims to put out high-quality e-bikes at an affordable price point. The Kickstarter campaign will allow them to bring VIT-S into production, offering backers the opportunity to purchase the bike discounted by ÂŁ1800. The Kickstarter campaign will run until December 25th, 2016.
