More details emerge about Cycle Surgery closures

At the beginning of the month BikeBiz broke the news that the Cycle Surgery chain would be closing six stores. This was followed two days later by details of which stores would close, and which would be rebranded.

Outdoor and Cycle Concepts, the trading brand of AS Adventure Group, told BikeBiz that stores situated in London Strype St, Southwark Bridge and Lee Valley Velopark would close. It’s now been revealed that Cotswold Outdoor will take on the trading space at Tunbridge Wells – previously co-branded – and Cycle Surgery Wirral will be replaced by an expanded product offering from Runners Need and Snow+Rock who already retail at the location.

Cycle Surgery Moorgate will be replaced by Snow+Rock, with Runners Need continuing to trade from this store. Outdoor and Cycle Concepts has stated that staff in each of these stores are going through a consultation period, with more details on staffing when the process in completed.

A statement from the company read: ‘The proposed changes will enable Cycle Surgery to strengthen the business and continue to improve upon a customer proposition that includes quality workmanship and advice alongside a diverse offering of leading brands, both in-store and online.’

CEO at Outdoor and Cycle Concepts Greg Nieuwenhuys added: “These store changes are an important step that will help Cycle Surgery to meet the needs of customers and riders. We will continue to support our customers to get the best from cycling through our great product range in stores and online and our team of passionate experts delivering superb service.”
