Muc-Off launches Eco Parts Washer

Muc-Off, the independent UK-based bike maintenance specialist, has today announced the launch of its workshop-specific Eco Parts Washers.

“Unlike traditional solvent-based parts washers, this process provides an economic, efficient, safe and eco-friendly cleaning solution for even the heaviest of grime in seconds – a must for any workshop,” said a statement.

Alex Trimnell, Muc-Off CEO, said: “Traditional parts washers use a lot of energy and pump out solvents into the environment and so we were stoked to be able to develop an alternative, more eco-friendly solution!”

Reducing the environmental impact of Muc-Off products and processes has been a priority for the company over the past few years, including reducing packaging to removing PTFE and other non-biodegradable ingredients from products.

The Eco-Parts washer is another step towards minimising waste and helping protect the environment. Solvent-free, advanced natural bioremediation cleaning power not only benefits the environment but it’s also safer and healthier to use for workshop staff, Muc-Off has said. On top of this, it saves on energy costs as the temperature required for effective cleaning is lower than traditional parts washers.

There is a reduced need for regular draining or filter cleaning and changing as the units are self- cleaning; fluid and filters both lasting on average three-times longer than solvent-based washers.

The 100-litre unit has two permanent filters which “don’t ever need replacing,” the company has said, only a quick rinse with water once per month.

The Muc-Off eco washer is bought together with Muc-Off Eco Parts Wash fluid and Muc-Off Eco Power Tabs. The eco parts wash fluid is an active aqueous solution with specific surfactant. It’s formulated to rip through grease, oils and “anything else you can throw at it with anti-corrosive agents to protect those important metal parts”.

The fluid must be used alongside the eco power tabs which activate the solution through concentrated micro-organisms, which continuously break down hydrocarbons in the cleaning solution.

Key benefits/features:
– Uses a unique bioremediation process
– No hazard labels, natural and safe for the user
– Low maintenance with less frequent draining and filter cleaning and replacement
– Low service intervals
– Clean either using the integrated brush or by soaking using integrated tank
