Large organisations with thousands of employees to take part in cycle-boosting initiative

Nestle, Aviva and Marriott to take on York Cycle Challenge

A number of major employers have signed up to Cycle Challenge York, due to take place between March 14th and April 3rd this year.

Those competing include Aviva, City of York Council, Natural England, Nestle UK, Shepherd Group, The York Marriot Hotel, DVA and Trustmarque Solutions. It is hoped that many of their employees will be encouraged to take part.

Programme manager Graham Titchener said: “We’re really excited about the challenge, which promises to be our biggest city-wide event to date.” He wants to see “thousands of people across the city cycling as much as they can to win prizes for themselves and their team”.

The community-led partnership project is a free competition, which has the aim to be fun for those who live and work in York as well as helping people discover the benefits of cycling.

Schools can also compete in categories determined by size. Participants can cycle at any time that suits them, and then track progress online.
