Bicycle China 2004 will be held 24-26th November in Guangzhou. In normal bike trade show terms this is either incredibly late for a 2004 show or fantastically early for a 2005 show. The show owner, China Foreign Trade Centre Group, is seeking European exhibitors via Merebo Messe Marketing of Hamburg, Germany.

New Chinese trade fair for bicycles pins hopes on November

Bicycle China 2004 will take place in Asia’s biggest trade show venue, the Guangzhou International Convention & Exhibition Centre.

With a surface area of 20 000 sq m, Bicycle China 2004 will be able to allow some 350 companies to participate. Merebo is in charge of the European Pavilion.

As a major power in bicycle production and export, China plays a central role in the world bicycle market. It exported 50.4m bicycles to around 170 countries in 2003, and accounts for up to 65 percent of international trade volume and for more than 50 percent of the global consumption of new bicycles.

Guangzhou is in the Guangdong province and is China’s most important bicycle manufacturing base, home to nearly 500 bicycle and P&A producers.

Many of these companies are either state-owned or owned by Taiwanese companies. The region produces 20 million bicycles a year.
